The People Who Are Here For You

All of our team believe change is possible for everyone.  We have a wide range of experience, both personal, lived experience or that gained through supporting others in a wide range of settings. We value the enthusiasm, commitment and resilience this team bring to CLI every day.

Jill Corcoran – Development Director

I have worked alongside CLI for many years within criminal justice and I always loved their can-do attitude and how they worked so positively with everyone.

I volunteered as a Non-Executive Director for a couple of years before I persuaded them to employ me! I love working to make CLI the best it can be and expanding its services to benefit more people.

Liz Knott –
Project Co-ordinator

I discovered CLI when I was looking to resume my career after being a full time mum for 15 years. CLI’s ethos of supporting people, where no one is judged and everyone is valued, stood out to me.

Volunteering at CLI taught me a lot and now I am lucky enough to work for CLI full time. It’s been a privilege to help people grow and have a positive impact on their lives.

Helena Mofflin – Finance and Admin Support

I have been working with CLI since 2014, initially on a voluntary basis, providing support as the Finance Manager.

I have watched them grow from a small project in Tameside to the successful company they are today and I am honoured to be part of something that provides a life changing support network to such a large group of people.

Zoe Walker - Community Development Co-ordinator

I've recently joined CLI as a Volunteer Coordinator. I am truly excited to be a part of this forward thinking organisation. I became interested in CLI through my work in the Prison service, I saw a real need to help the more vulnerable members of the community.

I have always been passionate about helping others and find this work very rewarding. I am keen to progress and be a part of making a difference in my local community.

Peter Atherton – Managing Director

Pete is the Founder and Managing Director of CLI. Pete spent most of his life in and out of the care system and prisons. Problems with drugs and mental ill-health became a constant factor for him in his day to day life. Pete has a passionate belief in the human capacity for change and has used his own experience of recovering and rebuilding his life, to shape and inform the support that CLI deliver. Pete understands the barriers and discrimination our clients face and ensures their needs come first. Pete has developed and maintained strong and effective relationships with our partners and continually works to influence decision makers.

Trishna Reid -
Project Co-ordinator

I actually fell through the doors of CLI wanting to help and support two of my friends!! Quite quickly to know that there was a role for me here, made me so happy!

I’m passionate about the ethos of CLI and want more then anything to see people change their lives and make positive steps to live independently and be self-sufficient, without the past drink or drug addictions pulling them down.

Dieu Lopo - Criminal Justice Support Worker

I heard about CLI when my Probation Officer recommended I check out a job going that might suit me. I went to their recruitment day and was intrigued by CLI's passion for helping people and their values. I wasn’t successful in getting a job that time, but I went on to be a volunteer mentor and got a taste of what it’s like on the front line assisting clients. CLI really supported me as a mentor and I felt comfortable and at home. Soon, I got another chance and this time I got a job as a support worker to start my career. I am really excited to help other people to change their lives around.

James Rowland – Project Manager

I began my CLI volunteering journey back in 2014 after listening to a speech given by Pete and hearing the values of CLI which inspired me to become a peer mentor, something I had never thought about before.

During my time as a mentor, I learnt so many different skills which have shaped me into the person I am today. I am enjoying my role as the NPS Project Coordinator and helping others to believe in themselves and achieving their goals no matter how big or small.

Kyle Mullings – Support Worker

I started my support worker role in August of 2018 after volunteering as a mentor for nine months. Since joining my time with CLI has been amazing and different everyday.

My colleagues are supportive and working alongside them has made my journey enjoyable. I love being part of the CLI family.

Rebecca Heyes –
Project Co-ordinator

I have progressed with CLI from volunteer mentor to employed Support Worker to IOM Project Co-ordinator. Since joining CLI my life has changed completely, it motivates me to be the best I can be, and people say this is the happiest and most determined they have ever known me to be.
CLI is very important to me, the organisation changes lives, not just the lives of those they support, they look after their own employees and volunteers too. I have gained so much from it, I have learnt a lot about myself and others – my perspectives have totally changed! I couldn’t wish to be part of a better team.

Amanda Grewel - Project Coordinator

I am brand new to CLI and I so excited to be joining an organisation with the values and vision that CLI has. The belief that people come first, that change can happen and that with the right support and opportunities things do get better really resonates with me, and from the minute I heard about CLI I knew I wanted to be part of the powerful work they do. I will be working in Milton Keynes helping to establish the SAMAS project, which has been so successful in Bedfordshire. I am looking forward to bringing the project to life and working with the local community to build a thriving and inclusive environment for recovery and beyond.

Leanne Gearing – Project Manager

I started with CLI in 2016 as a volunteer mentor as I wanted to give something back and support others in their recovery. I then had the opportunity to be a GROW Trainee and from that I became a Volunteer Coordinator.

The passion, support and commitment everyone shares is amazing and I have been privileged to see so many people’s lives change for the better, including my own.

Simone Langley – Operations Director

I started out my CLI journey in 2013 as a volunteer mentor and quite quickly I knew I had found something special.

I feel extremely fortunate to have been able to share in so many people’s journey so far and to work alongside like-minded, passionate people.

CLI has been life changing for me and I am excited to see what the future holds as we continue to grow!

Bernie Roles - Project Coordinator

I came to CLI by connecting with Bev, having been referred to CLI for my own recovery and then finally through supporting someone engaging with CLI. I love everything about this role. I love the variety of those that I support, my team and being able to give back using my lived experience.

I am excited whatever opportunities come my way and watching this organisation grow.
