Community Led Initiatives

Our belief in change starts with our own stories: the CLI approach was pioneered by two ex-offenders, working with criminal justice partners to provide mentoring support to priority and prolific offenders.

CLI now has service level agreements in place with commissioners across the country who believe that the CLI approach can create lasting change for individuals and families affected by offending and substance misuse. The CLI team has achieved the status of an Approved Provider Standard (APS) commended service and as a best practice provider on the Mentoring and Befriending Foundation quality assurance framework.

The team use their unique lived experiences of both sides of the criminal justice system to deliver a non-discriminatory, non-patronising and constructive approach to building relationships with both clients and partners; mediating when necessary to improve clients’ journeys.

We’ve been working with CLI for many years and the relationships they build with people coming out of prison is invaluable- people that engage with CLI for more than six months after being released from prison are 75% less likely to reoffend
